What are spider veins?
Spider veins are small veins that are close to the surface of your skin, and are usually visible in red or blue. They appear as similar to a spider web or tiny branches, with small irregular lines. They are usually found on thighs, legs and sometimes even on the face called telangiectasias.
Spider veins affect both men and women, sometimes as a result of; age, pregnancy, hormonal changes, weight, prolonged sitting and family history. Generally, more women are affected than men.
Spider veins affect up to 50% of the male and female population, similarly.
Treatments:
At Advanced Laser Medspa, we treat spider veins with lasers. Lasers are considered a safe and preferred non-invasive method to treat the veins. The laser treatment breaks up the veins with focused laser light and over a series of treatments – usually 3 to 6 about 3 to 4 weeks apart. The veins slowly fade or disappear. The number of treatments varies depending on the number of veins and their depth. Treatments may last about 15 to 30 minutes depending on the number of veins.
How it works:
The treatment involves pointing the laser and tracking the spider vein. The laser light breaks up the vein and causes it to disappear over time. Side effects can cause temporary redness, irritation or darkening. This may take a few weeks to resolve.
Laser treatment is a non invasive procedure. No Scalpel necessary!
Equipment we use:
We have a 1064 laser and 532 laser to treat spider veins. We used the Aerolase Neo 1064 or the KTP laser (1064 or 532).
**At the time of your consultation, we decide which laser to use for your spider veins. We also patch test you before using the laser to determine if it is the best device and setting for you.
