The appearance of cellulite is the effect of collagen bands hardening over time that press down on enlarged fat cells that in turn push up against the skin. The accumulation of these stubborn fat cells causes the blood and lymphatic supply to the area to slow down, which results in the cellulite appearance worsening. This push/pull effect causes the unattractive rippling and/or dimpling appearance characterized by cellulite.
At Advanced Laser Medspa, we’re proud to have been one of the first in the United States to use Acoustic Wave Therapy™ (AWT™) for the treatment of cellulite. Acoustic Wave Therapy is a completely non-invasive treatment that uses dual technologies that eliminate cellulite while simultaneously helping to improve the tone, texture, and elasticity of the skin. We are now introducing the next generation of cellulite treatments with the ZIMMER Z-WAVE, which uses Radio Pulse Technology. This tech produces shockwaves that affect the collagen structure and the skin’s connective tissue. These affect the cellulite and improve the condition.
Additionally, our ENDYMED with radio frequency is effective at treating cellulite. The ENDYMED with radio frequency delivers heat to dermal layers, which remodels and tightens skin.
Cellulite formation has many causes, including genetics, hormones, poor circulation, as well as dietary influences. Over 90% of women have cellulite no matter their size, shape, or level of fitness. Unfortunately, cellulite cannot be eliminated by diet and exercise alone. Starting therapy with the Zimmer Z-Wave or ENDYMED treatment to improve, correct, and/or prevent the degree of cellulite from worsening.
Zimmer Z-Wave Shockwaves (Acoustic Wave Therapy™)
Unlike other cellulite treatments, The Zimmer Z-Wave is an innovative technology that uses gentle acoustic waves and percussion to break up cellulite in the front and back of thighs, buttocks, stomach, or arms. This works by loosening those hard bands of collagen that are pushing down on the enlarged fat cells while simultaneously breaking up the trapped fat. By manually increasing lymph drainage and blood flow to the treated area, the body is able to naturally rid itself of the cellulite through its lymphatic system. The result is firmer skin.
At Advanced Laser Medspa, we find that using a combination of both treatments is most effective. During the consultation, we determine your goals and discuss whether the treatments are appropriate for you.
The procedure takes about 15 minutes for each area (the back of the thighs would be considered one area) with the ZIMMER Z-WAVE and most treatments take between 20 to 60 minutes, depending on the size and number of areas. With the ENDYMED PRO, the same area would take approximately the same time to complete. Details will be determined at your consultation. Time is determined by the severity of the cellulite and the number of areas.
A warm ultrasound gel is applied to the skin while the technician places a handpiece to the areas to be treated. A pulsating sensation is felt during the treatment which most clients compare to receiving a “deep tissue massage.”
Number of Treatments
A minimum of 8-10 treatments spaced twice a week for 4 weeks is the best way to see an improvement. Beginning with 2 weeks of 3 treatments may be recommended based on the severity of the cellulite. Some clients may require additional treatments to receive optimal results. We have seen benefits for individuals who came in once a week due to their time constraints. Maintenance treatments are recommended to sustain results. At the time of your consultation, you will meet with a licensed technician who will evaluate the areas of concern and recommend a treatment plan based on the degree of your cellulite and their professional experience and training.
Risks and Side Effects
Side effects are temporary and can sometimes include redness, swelling, or bruising of the treated areas.
Results
Results can include a reduction in the appearance of lumpiness and an increase in skin texture, tone, and firmness. Additionally, some clients will notice a circumference reduction of the treated areas. Clients are weighed, measured, and photographed before beginning treatment and two weeks after completing their initial set of treatments to track the amount of their progress.
Results vary from person to person, and it is important to schedule a complimentary consultation to find out if you are a good candidate for our therapies – to start feeling confident about wearing shorts, skirts, and bathing suits. Call Advanced Laser Medspa today to get started.
