Beat Summer Heat – Skin Saving Tips

Here are a few skin saving tips to keep your skin looking and feeling its best during these hot and humid summer months.

Always pack a UVA/UVB broad-spectrum, oil-free sunblock. We like Tizo by Fallene, a mineral based medical grade sunblock that goes on like silk and even has a little tint to smooth out skin imperfections.

A Vitamin C serum  should be applied in the morning underneath your moisturizer and before your sunblock. We like Phloretin CF® by SkinCeuticals. Phloretin CF®  protects against free radicals, as well as corrects existing damage by stimulating the synthesis of essential proteins and fibers and accelerating cell turnover.

A light weight oil free moisturizer should be used no matter how hot it is outside or how oily your skin might feel. Not moisturizing your skin actually causes it to produce more oil, which can worsen acneic skin types. We like Bellederm Clear Moisturizer. Moisturizer should be applied after your vitamin C and before your sunblock.

Accidentally got burned? Apply aloe vera gel to the red and inflamed areas repeatedly to calm and soothe sunburned skin. Use aloe vera straight from the plant or any aloe vera gel OTC that does not contain alcohol, dyes or perfumes which can aggravate already irritated skin.

Mineral Makeup is another necessity to cover up imperfections without clogging skin. Mineral Makeup does not contain talc, perfumes, oils or parabens. We like GloMinerals and Motives Mineral Makeup.
