RADIESSE® FACIAL FILLER
What is Radiesse®?
Radiesse® is a filler that can improve the appearance of the smile lines, facial folds and lines. It is made of calcium-based microspheres suspended in a water-based gel. It also stimulates your body to produce new collagen, so you’ll continue to look more youthful and attractive over time. In fact for many patients, the benefits of treatment with RADIESSE dermal filler may last up a year or more
How does it work?
Radiesse® is a dermal filler that is eased into the skin by Dr. Salzman, using a fine needle to fill the soft tissue to add volume. It is great for the laugh lines (the parenthesis around the mouth) and the marionette lines (the line extending from the end of your lips to the jaw line.) Radiesse® stimulates your body to produce new collagen and encourages collagenesis, stimulating your body to produce new collagen and encouraging collagen to grow around the injection area. RADIESSE® dermal filler actually helps your body create its own collagen.
What is the treatment like?
Radiesse® requires minimal downtime and can be done within 45 minutes at our office. Using more syringes per visit may require more time. Please allow sufficient time for your consultation with Dr. Salzman. Additional time is needed to fill out a Medical History Form. (You can find a copy of this form online at the bottom of the “contact us” page). Time is also required for “before photos” and for consent forms. Radiesse® does not require any type of allergy testing.
How long does it last?
The effects of Radiesse® last up to one year. We find that our patients experience persistent improvement for 12 months in the nasolabial folds. Results do vary from individual to individual as amounts of Radiesse® given per visit vary according to patient requirements.
How comfortable is the treatment?
Dr. Salzman will prepare the treatment area either with a numbing cream and uses Lidocaine at the injection site. Both are based on your assessment and Doctor’s discussion with you as his private patient. All options are fully disclosed with each patient.
How do I prepare for a treatment?
We recommend that you avoid medications that prolong bleeding, such as aspirin and ibuprofen. These should not be taken for 5-7 days prior to your treatment. Excess of other herbals or vitamins and alcohol, may contribute to bruising or bleeding at any injection site. Please inform Dr. Salzman if you use any of these. Please advise Dr. Salzman of any medical conditions and allergies you have as well as all medications you are taking. The skin is hygienically cleansed prior to any injection.
Are there any risks or side effects?
Radiesse® has very few side effects. Rarely a patient may experience redness, swelling or bruising at an injection site and this may last a few days. At Advanced Laser Medspa, we offer a complimentary treatment (retailing for $100) free to patients being treated with Radiesse®. The treatment which usually lasts 20 minutes, is optional, and helps to enhance the benefits of Radiesse® as well as reduce swelling.
Do I have other treatment options?
Other treatment options for dermal soft tissue augmentation include Juvederm® Ultra and Juvéderm Ultra Plus. Other hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers as well as bovine-based collagen are not used at Advanced Laser Medspa. Improvement of your complexion are achieved through the many services offered such as: Botox®, micropeels, lasers and our medical grade cosmeceutical facial products.
The most important safety aspect of any treatment is the careful evaluation performed by a trusted physician.
